The English Union of J/Vembadi Girls’ High School is dedicated to building confident communicators, critical thinkers, creative writers, and fluent English speakers through structured competitions, training, drama, storytelling, and public speaking.

The union creates opportunities for students from all grades to learn, practice, compete, and excel in English at school, divisional, zonal, provincial, and national levels.


Objectives

The English Union aims to:

  • Enable participation at all levels

  • Encourage and motivate students to learn and use English proficiently

  • Recognize students with strong English language potential

  • Foster critical thinking skills

  • Build confidence in communication and public speaking

  • Promote creativity through writing, drama, and storytelling

Training, Competitions & English Day

The following major activities were conducted during 2025:

  • Scheduled and assigned teachers-in-charge for each competition

  • Informed students about all competitions

  • Practiced students at class level

  • Conducted class-level competitions

  • Selected two students from each class for each event

  • Conducted school-level English Language and Drama competitions

  • Trained students for next levels

  • Organized English Day 2025

  • Prepared invitations and student creations

  • Stage, entrance, welcoming, and guest ushering activities

The union recorded extensive divisional-level placements across Grades 6–13, including:

A total of 70+ student placements were recorded at divisional level.
